Challenge
Gough and Kelly, a leading multiservice security provider based in Bramley, Leeds, needed to enhance communication systems for the security team at York St John University. The University’s existing radio system was outdated, expensive, and ineffective, needing a modern, future-proof solution. The challenge was intensified by the University’s multiple campus sites, making traditional two-way radio systems insufficient for comprehensive coverage.
“The Storm solution has dramatically improved our communication capabilities across York St John University. The push-to-talk over cellular technology ensures reliable coverage across all our campus sites. This partnership has significantly enhanced our security operations.”
Richard Cuff, Assistant Director, York Region, Gough & Kelly
Solution
Storm partnered with Gough and Kelly to implement a state-of-the-art push-to-talk over cellular (PoC) technology solution at York St John University.
This advanced solution leveraged the cellular data network, eliminating the need for costly aerials or two-way radio repeaters. The Storm platform offered a high-benefit communication system ideal for geographically isolated campuses. Additionally, Storm’s dispatch console software was deployed in the main security control room, providing full visibility of all communications and real-time locations of security personnel across the campus.
Results
The deployment of Storm’s PoC technology and dispatch console software has transformed security operations at York St John University. University now benefits from seamless, efficient communication across all its campus sites, significantly enhancing security and operational efficiency. This innovative solution has increased efficiency and ensured comprehensive coverage, improved situational awareness, and provided a reliable record of all security communications.
