Wordsworth equips wagons with STORM in technology drive

Wordsworth Excavations, one of the biggest contractors of its kind in the UK, has equipped its fleet of wagons with the latest communications technology supplied by STORM Intelligent Communications.

The Barnsley-based company is a market leader in bulk earthworks and excavation, demolition and ground stabilisation services. Wordsworth operates a substantial fleet including excavators, dozers, dump trucks and more than 25 eight-wheeler tipper wagons.

The new STORM technology enables the company to immediately locate vehicles and instantly communicate with fleet operatives, helping to increase efficiency in the management of large-scale and complex projects.

Wordsworth serves sectors including commercial and industrial, regional distribution, quarrying, environmental, healthcare, residential, defence and security and infrastructure.

Thomas Wordsworth, managing director, said: “As a business, we continually invest in the latest technology to give us absolute control in every aspect of our work.

“Our investment in STORM Intelligent Communication enables us to immediately locate our people, communicate with them instantly and increase efficiency throughout our operations.

“Instead of making multiple calls to multiple operatives, we can make one address and reach all of our people at the touch of a button.”

STORM said its construction industry clients have reported improved safety, increased compliance and reduced communications spend since adopting its technologies.

Clients use the Central Command Centre dashboard to control an instant communications system for up to 700 operatives per group.

Luke Wilkinson, founding director of STORM, said: “Wordsworth Excavations supplies some of the largest construction companies in the UK and is investing in the latest technology to stay at the cutting edge of health and safety, quality and compliance in the industry.”
