Storm joins Rail Innovation Group to help promote new tech in transport system
Storm has joined the Rail Innovation Group, a non-profit community for start-ups to promote the take-up of new technology in the rail industry. The Harrogate-based company’s workforce management technology is being adopted in the sector to help reduce disruption and delays for passengers and improve public safety.
Storm’s technology makes it quicker and easier for contractors and subcontractors to track and report incidents, shortening response times and increasing efficiencies. Users can monitor compliance, time and attendance in mobile workforces to ensure operatives are in the right place at the right time, boosting business productivity – and potentially saving lives. The technology reduces reliance on manual processes and paper-based timesheets, checklists and reports with the associated environmental benefits.
Storm clients have reported improved safety, increased compliance and reduced communications spend since adopting its technologies. Clients use the Central Command Console dashboard to control an instant communications system for up to 700 operatives per group.
Luke Wilkinson, founder and director of Storm, said: “As an ambitious UK technology company with a significant contract win in the sector, it feels like a natural step to be joining the Rail Innovation Group and its growing community of successful start-ups bringing new ideas and creativity to the supply chain. We are looking forward to meeting other like-minded professionals, sharing insights and discussing the challenges facing the industry.”
Liam Henderson, chair of the Rail Innovation Group, said: “We are delighted to welcome Storm to our membership. Our group’s extensive networks, knowledge and experience enable exciting start-ups like Storm to navigate the sector and spread innovation to promote a modern, efficient and customer-friendly rail system.”
Storm supplies services such as instant voice communication, instant messaging, video and image sharing, location and SOS alerting capabilities to help organisations improve safety, increase productivity, reduce costs and enhance working relationships.
